What to Expect When You Work With Me as Your Utah Family Photographer

If you have never worked with me before, or if this is your first storytelling family session in Utah, you might be wondering what exactly happens between booking your session and getting your final photos.

I totally get it.

This is more than just showing up, smiling at the camera, and hoping for the best. When you book with me, I am here to guide you through a full experience that is thoughtful, stress-free, and actually enjoyable. Whether you are planning a family photo session in Utah County, a motherhood session at home, or outdoor maternity photos, I want it to feel like a meaningful memory, not a chore.

Here is exactly what to expect when you work with me, start to finish.

Step One: Get in Touch

It all begins when you send an inquiry — either through my CONTACT FORM or a quick DM. Once I hear from you, I’ll send over my full pricing guide, along with a few available dates and an overview of what it’s like to work with me.

We’ll chat a bit about your vision. Are you thinking mountain views? A cozy in-home session? Something playful with your kids or quiet and nostalgic? I’ll help you hone in on a location and overall vibe that feels true to you and your story.

Step Two: Make It Official

When you're ready to move forward, I’ll send over a custom booking link. This link includes your contract and invoice — no back and forth, no attachments, just everything in one place. A 25% non-refundable retainer is due at this time to officially reserve your session.

Once your contract is signed and your retainer is paid, your date is locked in on my calendar. You can go ahead and start getting excited, because it’s really happening!

Step Three: Plan Your Session

Now the fun begins.

You will receive my Session Guide, which is packed with helpful info on:

  • What to wear for your family photos in Utah’s seasonal landscapes
  • Outfit planning tips and styling advice
  • Fun activities to make your session unique
  • Tips for prepping kids and partners so everyone feels comfortable
  • What to bring with you and what to expect the day of your session

This email also includes a short questionnaire to get to know your vision — what you’re hoping to capture, what feels most meaningful to you, and any little details I should know. You’ll also get a link to schedule a planning phone call with me. This call is our chance to connect more deeply, make sure we're on the same page, and bring your session ideas to life together. From location choices to activities, we'll plan it all.

This is the time to dream it up. Your session should feel like you — relaxed, personal, and full of connection.

Step Four: Your Session Day

When the day arrives, your only job is to show up and love on your people. Truly. That is it.

I will guide you the entire time using gentle prompts that encourage movement and connection. Nothing stiff. No pressure to perform. If your toddler wants to run barefoot and pick flowers or your baby needs to be held the whole time, that is totally fine. These are the kinds of moments I live to capture.

Whether we are hiking a trail near Provo Canyon, running through the hills in Salt Lake City, or curled up on your living room floor, the goal is always the same — photos that feel like you.

Step Five: Sneak Peeks and Gallery Delivery

Within 48 hours, I will send you a handful of sneak peeks so you can relive the magic while the session is still fresh. Then, within three to four weeks, your full gallery will be delivered in a private online gallery where you can:

  • Download all your high-resolution images
  • Share the gallery with family and friends
  • Order professional-quality prints or albums directly from your gallery

I do not cap or limit the number of images I deliver. If it tells part of your story, it stays in the gallery. Every photo session — whether it is a family, maternity, or motherhood shoot — is filled with moments worth remembering.

Step Six: Relive It All Over Again

This is the part where you curl up with your favorite drink, open your gallery, and scroll through with a big, full heart. These images are not just for now — they are for the version of you who needs to remember what this season felt like years from today.

Whether you booked your session for the wild toddler stage or your last baby bump, these moments are worth preserving. My goal is to give you a collection of images that will bring you back to these memories again and again.
